The Design Process
Crafting a visual identity system to fit your business
Logos are fascinating things: simple, thoughtful, evocative. A good logo can be an effective marketing tool when crafted with care and used with intent. Add the right colors and the right words, and you have a solid visual identity system, the foundation of a lasting brand.
Logo, Logotype & Visual Identity System Design
Starting at $1,500
An identity design project involves more than just drawing a picture. Every project is unique, and the final price will depend on the scale, scope, and usage. But every logo comes with a set of basic identity materials (business card, letterhead, envelope) and a usage guide.
Brand Assessment
A brief, no-risk consultation to uncover what makes your brand unique. We'll discuss your story, your vision for the future, and the potential challenges and obstacles you may encounter along the way.
Profile
The key to developing a successful identity system is understanding who you aim to serve and what problems your business solves for them. We'll build out a profile of your ideal customer (consumer or business). Understanding your target audience will help in creating a design language that resonates with them.
Market Research & Positioning
We'll examine other businesses within your market space and analyze their identity systems. This will help to create a picture of the market as a whole, and to avoid infringing upon any existing trademarks within your industry. We'll also compare the aesthetic of the industry against the profile of your target consumer, and identify opportunities for your business to assimilate or differentiate.
Moodboarding
Once we've established a clear picture of your target audience, I'll compile a collection of images, type treatments, colors, and textures that capture the overall feel of the market and that may appeal to your ideal customer. This moodboard will provide inspiration for the final design of your logo and identity system.
Drafts
Using the information gathered from our brand assessment discussion, customer profile, and market research, I will generate up to three potential concept drafts for your review, including some practical examples of the designs in use. I will invite you to select one concept to pursue, and to provide feedback on the design elements that appeal most to you.
Revisions/Refinement
During refinement, I'll put finishing touches on your chosen concept using your feedback from the draft phase.
Delivery
Once the final artwork is approved, I will bundle your logo files for delivery, along with any other collateral we agreed upon during your initial consulation.
